- Reference Manual This is the manual that will be given to you for use during the exam. It is available at no cost on-line. It is CRITICAL that you get, and study with, and practice with, and get familiar with this manual. It is the only thing you are permitted to use during the exam, and if you aren't completely familiar with the symbols used and the terms employed and the location of the information in the manual, you're dead meat. It isn't fair that this manual uses different symbols than those you used in your classes, but that's the way it is. One good thing about the manual is that NOTHING will be on the exam if it is not covered in this manual, other than things like addition, etc. If it isn't in there, you need not expect to see it on the exam. It is therefore a great study tool. You should print out several copies and leave them laying around the house and study them constantly. On what page are tables for plane moments of inertia, mass moments of inertia, etc.? You should be able to turn to these immediately. If you have to take time to search for them during the exam, you are wasting valuable testing time.
